Fishing in Lake Vesijärvi, Lake Päijänne, or the Kymijoki River

Lakeland Finland begins at the Salpausselkä ridges, just about an hour’s drive from the Helsinki metropolitan area.
The fishing guides of Salpausselkä Pro Fishing, all of whom have completed a professional qualification, have extensive boating experience and are happy to provide hands-on instruction in seasonal fishing techniques. Fishing trips are suitable for both seasoned anglers and first-timers. The modern boats are equipped with top-of-the-line electronics, and a wide range of fishing gear is available for different styles of fishing.

Fishing isn’t always the main focus—you can also enjoy exploring the lake nature and stop at an island for a meal by an open fire. Traditional campfire coffee brewed in a soot-blackened pot is, of course, part of the experience.
And best of all, through the Salpausselkä Pro Fishing website, you can also book accommodation by the fishing waters if you wish to stay in the area longer!

Fisheries management fee & fishing permits

The fisheries management fee is a mandatory basic fee for fishers who are 18–69 years of age and fish with lures or traps or who catch crayfish. This means that you always need to have paid a fisheries management fee when fishing with a spinning rod, nets or traps. All other types of fishing, such as fishing with several rods or trap fishing, always require a fishing permit from the owner of the water area in addition to the fisheries management fee. Read more and buy the fisheries management fee and permits on the Metsähallitus website.
