Kerttula, cozy lakeshore cottage near services. Lahti region, 120 km from Helsinki

Kerttula is a traditional Finnish holiday cottage, located in a quiet spot on the shore of Lake Vesijärvi in the old village of Hollola. The drive from Lahti is about 20 minutes and from Helsinki about an hour. The cottage is suitable for a maximum of 7 people, but the best configuration is 4-5 overnight guests at once.

The house has 3 bedrooms, spacious living room, well-equipped kitchen, toilet, shower, sauna, washing machine, TV and fireplace. Outside, there is a covered terrace and a separate patio with soothing views directly over the lake. In addition, the yard is equipped with a barbecue and a separate campfire site on the shore. The wood-heated beach sauna, which received new surfaces in 2023, is in use during the summer. The yard of the cottage is sheltered and flat.

In the bay where Kerttula is located, you can easily catch fish and there is a lot of it, so the cottage is perfect for fishermen. The house is located in a Natura 2000 nature reserve and here you can observe many rare birds, plants, fish and animals. The terrains nearby are perfect for mushroom picking, and with good luck you can find delicious mushrooms right in the yard of the cottage.

Services can also be found nearby. For example, a grocery store, a couple of local restaurants, a summer cafe, a summer kiosk, the Kapatuosia hill’s observation tower with magnificent views, and a children’s playground are located within a 10-minute walk. Messilä skiing and golf center is located about 10 minutes away by car. At approx. same distance, you can also find the high-quality outdoor trail network of Salpausselkä with its natural attractions (e.g. Pirunpesä, Trail of Three Bogs) and fireplaces.

In theory, it is also possible to arrive to Kerttula without a car, because the bus stop is only a 10-minute walk from the cottage.
