Christmas Classics

Christmas Tree at the Market Square & Lahti Christmas Village
Lahti’s Market Square shines with its impressive Christmas tree and the cosy Christmas Village, where festive treats, crafts, and daily performances create a cheerful holiday atmosphere 13.-21.12.2026.

Winter Lights on Aleksanterinkatu
Since 1983, the festive winter lights along Aleksanterinkatu have brightened the darkest season in Lahti. These lights were designed by Professor Tapani Aartomaa (1934–2009) and are considered a national rarity — unique in their imagery, history, and colours. The motifs depict a whimsical, snowy ski-trip scene full of forest animals, cottages, snow, spruce trees, and even a ski-jumping snowman.

Christmas Spirit in Concerts
Enjoy beloved Christmas carols in atmospheric concerts. The Church of the Cross, other local churches, and the acclaimed Sibelius Hall provide beautiful settings for experiencing Christmas music at its finest.

Lahti Christmas Village is one of the region’s most charming seasonal attractions. Set right in the heart of the city at the main Market Square, it brings together local artisans, food vendors, and festive entertainment in an inviting winter setting. You can browse Christmas gifts, enjoy seasonal treats such as glögi (mulled wine), and experience a warm holiday atmosphere. The programme is diverse: live music, family performances, traditional Christmas activities, and special guest appearances fill the days from morning to evening.
